Euro 2012 – Day 8, Predictions (and aftermath)

Published on June 15, 2012 by in His Football

Day 7 Thoughts:  Another draw for the Italians although this time they didn’t play defensively unlike in the first game vs Spain. Croatia continue with their tough tackling approach which already won them 4 points. In the other match, Spain sliced up Ireland easily and winning big 4-0. Striker Torres finally found his form and scored a brace. If he can continue playing this well, Spain will have a good chance progressing further in the competition. Ireland became the first team to be out of contention for the next round officially, such a pity really but they are in a tough group.

Ok, onwards to day 8 predictions.

Euro 2012 – Day 7, Predictions (and aftermath)

Published on June 14, 2012 by in His Football

Day 6 Thoughts:  Denmark vs Portugal is the most exciting game so far in this tournament. Denmark showed gallant efforts to come back from 2 goals down to level the score but unfortunately they let in the decisive goal with 3 minutes remaining. C.Ronaldo had a terrible game which includes 2 amazing misses which were worse than Torres’s the other night. The football by both teams were exciting from end to end and this is what football should be about.

In the other game, Holland confirmed their flight tickets home early after losing to Germany 1-2. Holland is my pre-tournament finalist and i am surprised with their lacklustre performance in Euro 2012. Their players seem to have no fighting spirit at all, maybe they are all longing for a early holiday. Germany again are well organised and Mario Gomez is on top form again with 2 superb finishing. This game reinforces my belief that Germany will go all the way in this edition of European championship.

Ok, onwards to day 7 predictions.

Euro 2012 – Day 6, Predictions (and aftermath)

Published on June 13, 2012 by in His Football

Day 5 Thoughts:  If there is ever a strong case of a player on the take in a game, then Greece’s goalkeeper is a strong suspect. Letting in 2 super soft goals in the first 6 minutes and then withdrawing himself from the game after 20 minutes, his performance is a disgrace. The Czechs were terrible as well, after being gifted two goals, they were just contended to sit back and ride out the game for 85 minutes.   Surprisingly the Greece were forced into playing more positive football and they actually came close to snatch a draw.

Poland and Russia drew one all after the Russians could not keep up their opening game’s superb form. It is becoming a norm for the Russians to slowly fizzle out after strong opening in any tournament. Poland created most of the chances although they don’t have much of the ball possessions. This result leaves the group wide open with all 4 teams still having a chance to qualify for the next round.

Ok, onwards to day 6 predictions.

Euro 2012 – Day 5, Predictions (and aftermath)

Published on June 12, 2012 by in His Football

Day 4 Thoughts:  What do you expect from a Hodgson’s teams? Put all men behind the ball, kick it as far away as possible when you have it and hope for the best. That was exactly what happened in the France vs England game. England had 3 goal attempts the whole game compared to France’s 19. The positive the english can bring back is their efficiency (100%), 1 shot on target and they scored 1 goal. Joe Hart had a good game and made numerous saves and he is proving himself to be one of the best in business. But still i predict England will finish last in the group and go home early with this kind of performance.

Meanwhile Andrily Shevchenko proved he is still a top class striker by scoring a brace to bring 3 points home for Ukraine. One of my favourite strikers of all time, i am still puzzled why he failed to make it at Stamford bridge. Andrily Voronin (Liverpool fans remember him?) also started and played well. He is another Ukrainian failure at the England premier league. I always think he is a decent player but i dislike his hairstyle, ha, pony tail on guys’ head is so gross.

Ok, onwards to day 5 predictions.

Euro 2012, Day 5

Match 9:

Greece vs Czech Repubiic

I wanted Czech to win because i hope Greece’s negative football will get nothing but will set aside my emotion in making predictions so i will go for a draw.

Poland vs Russia

Predictions : Russia Wins

Euro 2012 – Day 4, Predictions (and aftermath)

Published on June 11, 2012 by in His Football

Day 3 Thoughts:  Spain vs Italy, not bad of a match as i was expecting a dull game with much action in the middle of the pitch. Spain controlled much of the possession as usual but did not really create many clear cut chances. Italy adopted 3 center backs wth 2 wing backs in anticipation of Spain’s expected penetration down the middle  (ala Barcelona). The Italians did a good defensive job in limiting the Spanish in the final third. Torres showed better performance compared to his last world cup outing but was guilty of wasting two good opportunities.

Ireland vs Croatia game is the type of game that aids to the fuel of speculation that football is corrupted. The refereeing was amazingly biased against the Irish. Their players were heckled down in clear brutal ways but the referee just didn’t give them anything. I am not sure, maybe the referee used to be officiating rugby matches? How can he not see some of the Croats’ tackles? The Irish also had two very legitimate penalty decisions turned down. Their players have every right to feel upset about being hard done by. Having said so, let’s not take the credits away from Croatia, they did score 3 nice goals, this team is much more physical compared to the previous Croatia teams that relied more on guile and skills. I am eager to see how they fare against the other stronger teams in the group.

Ok, onwards to day 4 predictions.

Euro 2012 – Day 3, Predictions (and aftermath)

Published on June 10, 2012 by in His Football

Day 2 Thoughts:  Robin Van Persie showed his trickeries today on how to fluff chances that come his way, it is embarrassing. The dutch dominated the game but couldn’t break down a stubborn Denmark defence and for the last 30 minutes continuously tried aimlessly from long range that threatened more to the fans who sit behind the Denmark’s goal post  than Danish goalkeeper Stephan Anderson. On the other hand, Denmark ventured forward only a couple of times but almost everytime they looked likely to score. It was not beautiful football but it did win them 3 precious points.

Portugal tried to do a Denmark and played counter attacking football (really??) until they concede a goal. With the amount of talented players they have at their disposal and a potent strike force of C.Ronaldo, Nani and Postiga, i am surprised they didn’t choose to be more positive. Germany was well organised as always and deservedly came out winners. They started with 7 Bayern Munich players, little wondering that they looked well gelled.

Onwards to day 3 predictions then.

Euro 2012 – Day 2, Predictions (and aftermath)

Published on June 9, 2012 by in His Football

Day 1 Thoughts:  Poland vs Greece was a bore of a match, both teams tried their best to put the spectators to sleep. Again, the opening match of a tournament is usually full of talking points not related to the football itself; red cards, bad refereeing, play acting and so on. But it’s ok, we got used to it and we forget about it in a jiffy.

Russia vs Czech was a sharp contrast though, it was full of fluid attacking football with chances being created both ends, this is backed up by shots on goal statistic of 33 in this match compared to Poland vs Greece match’s 21. Russia looked true to their good form lately and was clinical in front of goal. Their passing and movement reminds me a bit of Arsenal, very pleasing to the eyes and am glad to see them win.

Onwards to day 2 predictions then.

Shiok Kopitiam Kinrara

Published on June 8, 2012 by in Featured, His Stomach

Finish work late today, Yen2 went to life group with Yan2 so i had dinner alone at a cafe called Shiok Kopitiam nearby the house. It has been around for a few years now and business seems to be brisk most of the times. They offer all variety of halal food (chinese, indian, malay and western) and they are reasonable both in terms of taste and pricing. It is a convenient eating place to go to when you feel lazy to drive far or short of ideas on what to eat.

image

Simple but comfortable environment.

image

Shiok Coney Dog - Rm7.90.  I think it is better than A&W’s.

image

Cendol - Rm3.90.  Not suitable for diabetics.

Their signature dish is Mee Goreng Mamak, but i have had it so many times so try something different.

Here’s the map to the place, enjoy!

Euro 2012

Published on June 8, 2012 by in Featured, His Football

Kicking off today?

Didn’t really realise it until yesterday, wow, this is the time when everyone seems to turn into football experts and those who engage in football betting will start blaming/crediting everything, every result on bookies’ match fixing ability. If that’s really the level of  bookies influence on football matches’ outcomes, then i am really an idiot for loving and supporting this game for the last 20 odd years.

Let’s hope that is not the case.
