Euro 2012 Final – Spain vs Germany

Published on July 6, 2012 by in His Football

Euro 2012 Final:

I predicted Italy to overcome all odds and beat Spain to clinch the cup but Spain proved to be too strong and easily destroyed the Azzuri by 4 goals to nil. The score might be a little flattering to Spain because the match didn’t look that one sided at all.

Torres surprisingly bagged the golden boot award after he started only two games all tournament.

So there done and dusted another Euro competition which everyone (except the spanish?) will forget in a short while.

===============================

My predictions record after final stage : Correct (12) – Wrong (19)

Accuracy : 38.7%

It’s fortunate i don’t bet on football otherwise i might have lost some money. Ha.

Euro 2012 – Semi Finals Predictions (and aftermath)

Published on June 25, 2012 by in His Football

Euro 2012 Semi Finals Predictions:

Spain vs Portugal

I am going to stick my head out and again predict Spain to crash out from the tournament. I thought France could do it but an early Xabi Alonso goal changed the context of the game and allow Spain to pass the game to death before grabbing a late penalty to put the result beyond doubt.

I believe C.Ronaldo has found his form and he will be a major threat in the semi final, more so he is so used to playing against spanish in club level that his goal scoring potency will shine through.

Predictions :  Portugal Through

Germany vs Italy

Germany dispatched Greece emphatically in the quarterfinal with a totally new attacking line up and it showed their strength in squad depth. Against Italy i would believe Mario Gomez will return to the starting striker role and continue his good form in the tournament . This guy is amazingly skillful and quick for his size and should cause plenty of trouble for the Italy defence.

Even though Italy played brilliantly in their quarterfinal, i believe it was actually England who made them look better than they really were. Hodgson was wrong to use Gerrard as a defensive midfielder because he was never effective as one even for Liverpool. As a result, Pirlo and co bossed the midfield and created bucket load of chances only for their strikers to waste them all. Italian strikers have been wasteful so far in the tournament and against the german great wall Manuel Neuer, it will mean they wont make the final.

Predictions :  Germany Through

===============================

Semi Final Actual Results (Aftermath)

Spain beat Portugal on penalties

Italy beat Germany 2-1

My predictions record after Semifinal stage : Correct (12) – Wrong (18)

Euro 2012 – Quarterfinals and Day 12 Wrap Up (Updates)

Published on June 20, 2012 by in His Football

Day 12 Thoughts:  Roy Hodgson claims that England performance in Euro 2012 so far exceeded his expectations, i have to say it exceeded mine too, by a long way. I had predicted them to finish last in group with 3 draws. They managed to come up with 2 wins and a draw and finish top of the group. Most importantly, they avoid Spain in the quarterfinal. Rooney scored an opportunistic poacher goal after another feed by Steven Gerrard. I believe Gerrard now leads the assists in Euro 2012.

Sweden hands France their first loss in the tournament and the swedes deserve a win. They were close in all 2 of their previous games, each time losing after they have taken the lead. Too bad the win will only serves them as a consolation and they will now watch the remaining games with their feet up like the rest of us.

The final standing of group D is:

  1. England – 7 pts
  2. France – 4 pts
  3. Sweden- 3 pts
  4. Ukraine – 3 pts

Euro 2012 – Day 12, Predictions (and aftermath)

Published on June 19, 2012 by in His Football

Day 11 Thoughts:  Not much surprises there tonight then except that i expect Ireland to show much more spine and at least bring one point home. Italy dispatched Ireland comfortably in a 2-0 win and Spain grind out another 1-0 victory. I fear for Spain in the next round unless they start to find their scoring touch. The final standing of group C is:

  1. Spain – 7pts
  2. Italy – 5pts
  3. Croatia- 3pts
  4. Ireland – 0 pts.

Euro 2012 – Day 11, Predictions (and aftermath)

Published on June 18, 2012 by in His Football

Day 10 Thoughts:  Germany and Portugal are both through to the next round after recording another identical 2-1 wins over Denmark and Holland respectively. Holland had a disastrous Euro 2012, losing all 3 games. I had expected them to be one of the finalists but they simply looked out of sorts for the last 2 weeks. Germany recorded a perfect 100% win record in this group of death, a strong testament of their ability to go all the way. Portugal’s C.Ronaldo found his shooting boots in time to score an important brace to carry his team through to next phase. Credits must also go to Denmark, they were deemed the whipping boys in this group but they proved that they are a match for the biggest teams in europe and didn’t let their fans down. The final standing of group B is:

  1. Germany – 9pts
  2. Portugal – 6pts
  3. Denmark – 3pts
  4. Holland – 0 pts.

Onwards to day 11 predictions.

Golden Egg Noodle, OUG.

Published on June 18, 2012 by in Featured, His Stomach

30 years ago, “Pan Mee” is considered a new type of dish and the “Pan Mee” hawkers usually needing to explain what it really was. I was also curious the first time i saw cut up flour pieces in a bowl of clear soup. Nowadays there seems to be so many different “Pan Mee” eating places and so many different ways you can eat “Pan Mee”. You have it with clear soup, herbal soup, curry, dry chilies, hokkien fried, “loh”, prawn soup, goreng mamak style and etc. The only way i have never seen is eating the cut up flour pieces raw!

image

Today we have lunch at Golden Egg Noodle house OUG branch. If i am not mistaken, i believe i have seen one at Puchong Jaya as well.

image

Hot Chilies Soup + Seaweed Pan Mee – Rm6.00. I ordered this and the chilies soup is potent! I choked on the first sip and needed a big gulp of iced tea to avoid disaster.

image

Cendol – Rm4.90. Disappointing! I am not sure what they use but certainly it is not gula melaka.

The “Pan Mee” here is ok but nothing extraordinary. They have at least 12 different varieties of “Pan Mee” and 5 different flavours of the “Pan Mee” noodle itself; coriander, chilies, cabbage, seaweed and yam. You can order the flavoured “Pan Mee” noodle in place of the normal original one at only Rm0.50 extra. I tried the seaweed one but i couldn’t taste the difference to be honest, it is possible because my chilies soup is too overpowering.

Here’s a map to the place (green arrow). Enjoy!

Baby Seafood Restaurant, Batu Belah, Klang

Published on June 17, 2012 by in His Stomach

Today is father’s day so we went out to celebrate with my father in law. Someone suggested we try Baby Seafood Restaurant in klang. Reputedly the food here is nice and cheap.

image

When we arrived at 6:45pm the place is already jam packed. It looks a bit run down from the outside and the interior is no better.

image

The aftermath.

image

Almost every table orders their signature charcoal steam fish. With more than 12 charcoal powered stoves running indoor simultaneously and under half working air conds, the place becomes stuffy and very warm.

The workers and boss here seem to have a little bit of attitude and made customers feel unwelcomed. Maybe working under such condition for long hours have an effect on their mood.

The food is also overated and the seafood dont seem fresh at all. The fish is too tough and the prawn feel decomposed.

Having sat there for an hour and a half, it seems to have affected my mood as well. That’s why i feel like posting photos of the empty dishes only. Ha.

If you want to try it out yourself, here’s the map. Enjoy!

Euro 2012 – Day 10, Predictions (and aftermath)

Published on June 17, 2012 by in His Football

Day 9 Thoughts:  Wow, results yesterday turned Group A upside down. Two underdogs in the group went through after recording identical 1-0 wins and hot favourites Russia and co-hosts Poland were dumped out from the tournament. Russia continued their trend of fizzling out after a strong opening match in recent tournaments. I mentioned to someone that i was worried that Russia would get beat by Greece but still i couldn’t believe they are actually out of Euro 2012. The final standing of group A is:

  1. Czech – 6pts
  2. Greece – 4pts
  3. Russia – 4pts
  4. Poland – 2 pts.

Russia actually have better goal difference than Greece but they lose out because they lost to Greece in head to head match-up.

Ok, onwards to day 10 predictions.

Mango Chili Thai Restaurant – Giant Kinrara Puchong

Published on June 16, 2012 by in Featured, His Stomach

My wife wanted to have thai food yesterday night so we went to Mango Chili Restaurant which is the nearest thai eating place near our house. It is located at the 1st floor of Giant Kinrara, Puchong. This is the first time we come here to try even though we have been passing by it countless of times over the last 2 years ever since it is opened.

Mango Chili – Simply Thai. How did they come up with the name? Mango and chili represent authentic Thai food? Eh?

Fried Kai Lan – Rm6.90. Bland. But it was served with extra source of protein as we found some tiny insects in the dish. Yum….

Green Curry Chicken – Rm9.90. The curry taste is very good, best dish of the night.

Seafood Tom Yam – Rm9.90. Taste a lot more like sour tomato soup than tom yam. Chef is very liberal with tomatoes and vinegar.

Thai fish Cake – Rm6.90. Supposed to order it for my daugther but found out they put bird eye chilies in them. Very salty and melt in your mouth texture which is exactly the wrong texture if you are making fish cake?

Overall the food is below average and i am not sure if i will go back again.

Here is the map if you want to give it a try. Enjoy!

Euro 2012 – Day 9, Predictions (and aftermath)

Published on June 16, 2012 by in His Football

Day 8 Thoughts:  France showed their class and easily defeated joint-host Ukraine at their own turf. Although Ukraine created numerous chances but they failed to score while France took theirs with clinical fashion. Freak storm threatened to cause the abandonment of the game but after a 20 minutes suspension the weather was kind again to let the game progress.

In the other match, England beat Sweden in a thriller. Andy Carroll scored a nice header and Theo Walcott came in as a substitute and immediately sparked the english revival coming back from 1-2 down to win 3-2. Welbeck scored the winning goal with a “fluke” but who cares as long as it is legitimate.

Ok, onwards to day 9 predictions.
